The
Teen School Emergency Response Team is for students to learn
basic preparednedd and response skills in the event of a emergency
or disaster. It is an adaptation of the FEMA offered Community
Emergency Response Team (CERT). The training allows students
to better protect themselves and others in the event of a
critical situations, esepcially any emergency that may overwhelm
local first-responders. The training gives students the skills
necessary to maintain a situation until help arrives on the
scene, potentially saving lives.

instructor(s). Deep planning and commitment are important
to the success of the SERT class
-
Team work for planning program speakers and events is very
helpful – esepcially in the start-up phases. Once
the program is in place, sustainability will require less
effort.
Common
Implementation Problem:
-
Obtaining permission to integrate the Teen SERT within exisiting
heath curriculum
