Safety in Ohio Through Service (SOS)

School Bus Emergency Drill

This module gives students, faculty, and staff as well as local first responders an opportunity to test their safety skills in a simulated emergency situation. This module is an excellent project to use in conjunction with first-aid training, CERT programs, and other emergency response activities.

Instructional Supplies and Materials:

  • Moulage kit
  • CERT backpacks
  • Medical equipment and bag
  • Tarps for the ground
  • Cleaning fluid and supplies

Major Partners:

  • Fire Department
  • Airport Emergency Team
  • Public School Nurses
  • School theater department
  • Emergency Management Agency

Challenges Encountered:

  • In the initial implementation, students were given more freedom them usual. This freedom, however, presented as a challenge. The instructor recommends that specific requirements should be a part of the assignment.
