Students Create Farmers' Market Window Garden

Jeanne Grant, Ripley Farmers' Market

In preparation for the upcoming opening of the Ripley Farmers' Market on Saturday, May 26 two RUHL students, Brittany Dodson and Austen Bahnsen created a container garden as a community service project. The plants and materials for a kid's activity area were provided through a "Learn & Serve America" grant.

The Farmers' Market will open its season with a Plant Sale. Shoppers may expect spring greens and early vegetables. Baked goods, waffles, morning coffee, used books and music by local musicians will be found in the new "Farmers' Market Cafe" open 9am to 12 noon in the Croppers Store building on Main Street across from the Union Township Library.

Anyone interested in becoming a farmers' market vendor is welcome to contact Mary Dodson, President of the Ripley Farmers' Market Vendor Assn (937) 392-6025 for information. Fund raising groups are also welcome.
