Once
again, the student leadership at Georgetown Jr.-Sr. High School
started the school year by attending another great team-building
program hosted by the Learn and Serve Ohio class. Mr. Chuck
Roach, President of Challenge Leadership
Programs, conducted the nearly six hours of outstanding leadership
instruction.
Participating
students included all candidates for Student Council and class
officers, FFA officers, FCCLA officers, the National Honor
Society and the Learn and Serve class.
Although most of these students know each other, many have
not worked together as a team. The students’ active
participation improved their leadership skills through the
many exercises which allowed them to better understand themselves,
gain the experience of "being in-charge" and working
with others. Students were required to leave their comfort
zones, step to the front of their group and develop their
leadership skills. Finally, the students worked through team-building
exercises which involved rapid changing of the group leader,
instilling trust and confidence in themselves and their peers.
Georgetown
student leaders now have a greater appreciation of one another’s
abilities and are looking forward to a great school year.
Most importantly, they learned through team-building more
about themselves.
