Student Leaders Take Charge in Challenge Leadership

This
year’s Georgetown Senior High School student body leadership
accepted the challenges established by Mr. Chuck Roach and
successfully solved the problems presented in his Challenge
Leadership program. The program is designed for students to
work in small groups and complete problem-solving exercises.
By working together, the students gain a better understanding
of one another and their individual skills. Within this framework,
they are inspired to reach their greatest potential self-esteem
and self-confidence. The leadership program was conducted
by Mr. Chuck Roach, President of Challenge Leadership Programs.
It is a great team-building program hosted by the Learn and
Serve Ohio class.
Most
of the seventy-four students already knew each other, but
had not worked together as a team. The students’ active
participation improved their leadership skills through the
many exercises which allowed them to better understand themselves,
gain the experience of “being in-charge” and working
with others. Students were required to leave their comfort
zones, step to the front of their group and develop their
leadership skills. In doing so, they had the opportunity to
overcome their fears and were inspired to reach their greatest
potential self-esteem and self-confidence. Finally, the students
worked through team-building exercises which involved rapid
changing of the group leader, instilling trust and confidence
in themselves and their peers.
Students
participating in the nearly six hour program included all
student council and class officers, FFA officers, FCCLA officers,
the National Honor Society, the LEADS class, and the Learn
and Serve “Achievers” class.
